As of August 15, 2025, the live exchange rates show the Nigerian Naira (NGN) trading at ₦1,531.45 against the US Dollar (USD). There has been some stability since July 2025 as the USD/NGN rates have hovered between 1528 and 1532.
In the cryptocurrency market, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) stands at approximately ₦179.72 million, while Ethereum (ETH) is valued at over ₦6.86 million. For precious metals, the current price of Gold (XAU) is ₦164,573.33 per gram. The data indicates a slight downward trend across these assets, with all four showing minor decreases in value. Something interesting to note here is that 1 bitcoin is now worth more than 1 kilogram of gold by up to 10%.

Fuel Price Trends
Following the price cut by Dangote refinery by ₦30, the ex-depot price is below ₦900 per litre in most downstream marketing filling stations. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) retail outlets in Abuja have reduced their prices from ₦945 per litre to ₦890 per litre. In other retail outlets in the country, prices are expected to stabilize around ₦865 to ₦875 per litre.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), diesel (AGO) prices average ₦1,758 per litre across the country while kerosene (DPK) is still the most expensive fuel at₦2,175 per litre.
